This is the number in red on your visa stamp in ur passport. Mine is 8-digits long. Even if ur visa stamp has expired you've to provide that number.

One can call the US consulates in other contries like canada or mex ask them if they can look up your petition number in the PIMS system. Google for the phone numbers.
I hope that the PIMS system will be centralized. So if one consualte is able to pull it up, the same might be true for the others.
Have there been reasons other than Pims for delays? I see a lot of 221g cases in the forums. Are these due to PIMS?

how can it be free..when you pay 25/month?
I have vonage service since two years and i am paying 24.99/m since two years for unlimited US, canada and europe. They just added india in the international calling list so isn't it free? I am not paying anything extra for calling to india. I have been with vonage for quality and it is personal choice about which service you use and how much you pay for that. It all depends on usage and how much we spend on calling cards or calls to india. If you spend more than $25 on calling to india than this is a great plan if you have internet connection at home.

Implement the existing interim rule to allow issuance of multi-year Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) and Advance Parole.
According to Mr. Aytes, USCIS is already working on it. Why to mention it in the letter?
That will rather give anti-skill-immigration crying babies one more thing to cry about.
Now what? Under the new filing fee schedule which took effect after July 29, 2007, issuance of EAD and Advance Parole for the post August 27, 2007 is "free, free, free" for the I-485 filers. Allegedly, the cost is incorporated in the I-485 filing fee of $1,020. The new regulation uses the term of "fee waiver" for EAD and Advance Parole for these I-485 filers. Now, you guessed it! Lo and Behold, the business calculation on EAD and Advance Parole has reversed. The DHS will lose a huge money by issuing single-year EAD and a separate Advance Prole document on a yearly basis over and over since they are free and they will have to keep producing it at no charge every year, which creates a huge workloads consuming its huge human resources and other production costs. This is particularly unacceptable to the agency under the predicted State Department Visa Bulletin for FY 2008 and in the future. Now, from the business standpoint, the DHS may make a huge money by issuing a multi-year EAD which will also function as a travel document. Ahah! No wonder why they are finally coming forward revealing their hidden agenda behind the new fee rule-making and EAD/Advance Parole reform business. Does one need to be physically present in US in order to file I-485 application? I had already booked my travel to India on May 25th before I came to know that the my Priority Dates had become current. Will I need to be in US till I get the filing receipt? I was curious on how would UCSIS know that I'm out of country on the day of filing?

Before I begin with my question, allow me to give you a brief overview of my case:
In the year 2000, I initially filed for Labor Certification.
In 2004, I received approval of my application for Employment Authorization (I-765).
In 2005, I was sent a letter from the USCIS indicating that my application was rejected because I failed to file my case prior to a certain date issued by the USCIS.
Pretty straight-forward, right? Wrong. You see, in the last letter I was sent by the USCIS it states that I failed to file my case promptly enough; I filed my case nearly a year before the deadline was set!
My lawyers and I have attempted to appeal the decision, however our attempt has been futile: our request for appeal has been denied.
I am unsure of what to do now... It is apparent that the USCIS messed up, but I cannot think of any way to reopen my case and prove it. My attorney has presented me with two options - in mid-June he will engage in a conference call with a senior individual at the Immigration Office, at which time he will present cases (including mine) which have been wrongfully denied; my second option is to sue the United States.
I am very unsure of what course of action to pursue now! My lawyer has kept my waiting all this time with stalls and meetings which he has stated will help my case, however with each passing meeting, it simply seems like he is giving me false hope... I really do not want to have to wait until mid-June, only to find out that I must wait even longer before my case is reopened.
Additionally, I am highly reluctant to sue the United States of America for messing up in the processing of my case. The judge presiding over my case will be a United States citizen - it would be like telling a child to kill his/her parent... it simply cannot happen! If I were to sue the United States of America, I would be fighting an uphill battle and risk deportation if I were to lose.
Please! Has anyone on here been rendered an unfavorable decision by the USCIS based on a mistake made by the Immigration office? What have you done to fix your case?
Attorneys: have any of your clients been put into this situation? What have you done to resolve the issue?
Everyone: I understand that a very small percentage of people are likely to be in the same boat that I am in, however regardless of whether or not you are in this situation, what would you do if you were in my shoes???
Would you sue the government and risk deportation? Would you wait endlessly, hoping that things become better, eventually? Or would you do something else? (If so, what?)

Called the DOS. Told them I need to travel to my home country and asked them if they can verify if my information is in PIMS. She asked if the H1-B is an extension case which it is. She said the extension cases are taking a bit longer than the new ones. That is quite surprising. Finally she looked in the database or whatever and said they do not have my extension information yet. All they have is the information from the expired petition. No timelines just asked me to call back in a week.:rolleyes:

I see that you guys didnt join IV until 2008. So, you know very less about this org. The people who only can think for their own wont come to join you at any stage, it was proven many times. They will just keep writing messages here and use valuable information on the forum.
I am EB2/Masters/PD Nov 2004. I do not not support your idea. I loose patience at times, but not to the extent of effecting other peoples chances. I know quite a few of my freinds who had masters, their corporate employers applied in EB3, none of them are trying to do conversion. But, i feel their pain.

My attorney told me that there are several July 2 cases they have not heard back about, although they got receipts for July 19 and later cases long time ago. They told that they are making a formal enquiry. How do they do that I don't know.
I just hope that it is just a normal RIRO, not a lost bundle of applications which was originally marked for rejection/return.

It really is amazing how much hot air has been generated on this thread over a well established transit visa requirement.
The reason transit visas are required in the UK is that many passengers with an intention to transit the UK have stayed. The transit visa was introduced as a way of making sure (as much as possible) that the passenger has the intention and the ability to transit the UK and to enter a third country.
The list of nationals that are required to have a visa to transit the UK represents a list of countries where there has been a particular problem with over stayers. It is not race based, but merely an effort to target the problem.
It really does not matter what anyone thinks about the transit visa requirement because it is UK law. Everyone has a choice whether or not to transit the UK. Going back to the original post, to book a ticket without researching visa requirements and then trying to deflect personal responsibility by blaming the visa requirement is ridiculous.
I would say only this. Get yourself admitted into a hospital and get some oxygen pumped into your freaking brain (sorry, if it sounds harsh, but it is the only way to help you to think clearly). Read the post again, please, I beg you. I wrote the post only because the UK embassy overcharged and did not think it is at all necessary to return the excess amount. Regarding your comment about doing the research, let me tell you, there are �idiots� like me who would rather do something else and leave things to logic and former experience. Ordinary people like me have other things to do in life, like managing their day job, negotiating the daily commute, picking their kids from school, taking them to their extracurricular activities, managing their homework, and other things which only end at 10:00pm. Between all this cacophony, how do you think I should managed a situation when my travel agent call me and gives me 5 minutes to decide if I need to take a flight going through such and such city with all legs confirmed, and that too during the month of Nov-Dec?
