USCIS has decided that the flowers sent by skilled, legal immigrants to director Dr. Emilio Gonzalez will be forwarded to injured service members recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and at Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Here is some real advice:
Letting your bank forclose on you or filing for bankruptcy is not a decision you take lightly asking people on the forum for advice. Your credit score can go down by as much as 300 points affecting you financially over the next few years which you perhaps have not really thought about. Just because you have existing loans (like credit cards) on a low rate does not mean they are 'locked'. Banks can hike the rates periodically based on your current score often to as high as 32 %. This is not pennies but can be hundreds of dollars in interest. Ever got harsh calls from collectors ? Ever got evicted from your place of residence ? Ever got denied when you try to rent ? Try living only on cash for a few weeks and see how it feels without credit. I have not gone through any of those thankfully but have seen and heard horror stories. Consult a professional or do research on your own before making a decision.

Why would he continue to pay interest and principal when his house may not get to the same value in his lifetime? I think foreclosure is a small price to pay in that light.

You missed my point entirely. The better thing for everybody is to decouple the namecheck from the green card so that the name check can go on for as long as the FBI desires while you get the green card which can be revoked if the name check fails. To get a large government agency to spin their wheels faster so that some foreigners benefit in a post 9/11 world is a lunatic and impractical way of thinking.
Will all due respects, I did not miss your point; I completely understand it. But the reality is that, GC is one step away from citizenship and all constitutional rights. Even with BG checks if wrong people enter, how worse it would be - even if it is just an "interim GC" - without full BG checks. Non immigrant visa number is the number on your non immigrant visa used to enter the US. Someone posted it is the one in Red - mine appears on the right, towards the bottom. The only other numbr is the control number on my visa

Well, I am just stating facts. Just because you dont like them, I cant help it. You got to learn to move on. There is a saying in my native tongue " A smart man should never climb the stairs of a court." My grandfather was a prosecutor and and used to tell this to me many times. But thats just me. No we are discussing YOUR jobs loss due to L1 misuse. You were sleeping until it hit you and now you suddenly want sympathy. BTW, I feel sorry for you that any guy from India can come and do your job. Most guys who come on L1 are freshers with not much skills. Thats what is needed for the job then.
First of all I don't need your sympathy I am here to get some info regarding how to complain about L-1B violation (hope you read thru the entire discussion), second even if you think that I was 'sleeping' ... don't worry we are awake now and we are making sure that these violators are getting their share of attention from authorities.. we have a solid case (atleast the special investigator from ICE thinks so!), rest we'll leave to the concerned agencies (ICE/USCIS) ... I don't mind whether the guy is young or old if his visa is not eligible to do the work.. he is violating the law and will end up in trouble, period.
* All the positive things you talked abt outsourcing/TCS/Wipro can be achieved without violating any laws, unfortunately these companies are greedy enof to go any extend and violate the laws for achieving their quarterly/yearly targets.

If we got 12K from EB1 and EB5 for the first 6 months then we should expect another 12K and even EB2 ROW usage is significantly down.

I am one without an EVL, sent after new memo took effect , that has been recipted and finger printed.
So please read the 485 USCIS procedure again, and do not worry about sending endless 485s just because of lack of initial evidence
I doubt that. Medical was relaxed since it can take time for people to get the medicals done. Also immigration doctors were all busy at this time. So it is possible that people arent able to get the meds done by the Aug 17 deadline. The other documents like EVL shouldnt take this long. If the employer is willing to provide future employment to someone then it should be sent along with the application. Whether USCIS will relax for lack of Initial Evidence other than Medical is hard to say. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

It seems the popular perception is that this is an Indian effort.
We need to correct it.
It seems some of the members who interviewed with the media got carried away with "Gandhigiri" and all things Indian. It sounds ironic, we are craving attention from Indian media while trying to become Permanent residents of USA.
I don't think we should read too much into it. IV is obviously not an all Indian forum but the entire idea started with inspiration from an Indian movie and almost everyone that reporters have spoken to is an Indian. So it is easy to take away that impression.
It's not always possible to cram every fact and our every grievance in a 500 word report that needs to be understood by readers who might have not even heard the term green-card.

I am a big supporter of Obama and a big fan and am eagerly looking forward to see him as our next President of United States. As a legal highly skilled immigrant what can I expect? Well, not sure if I would see myself living here anymore. I have been in the green card queue for more than 8 years now and still waiting. Will Obama's administration do anything for people like me to help reduce backlog? I doubt such a thing will ever happen. I would see myself and people like me discouraged and start packing our bags and move on with life.
Why do I feel discouraged? If anything is going to happen for the immigrant community when Sen. Obama becomes the President, it is going to be in the lines of CIR 2007. For those in South ( Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana) best way to go to India is new Emirates direct flight between Houston and Dubai and then onward to India.
I have had 3-4 friends fly this route since they started flying in November 2007 and they have nothing but praise for everything. These guys have excellent food and entertainment and no transit visa hassels plus duty free sopping in Dubai is good.
Pluse - they put you up in a hotel if your Dubai layover is more than 8 hrs (for economy class passengers) and you get a free transit visa to visit Dubai. During my last trip to Bangalore, I went via Dubai (NYC - Dubai direct flight) and on my way back we had 11 hrs layover. My wife and I got a chance to see the city. Next time we are going to India we are planning on staying for a few days and go for their desert camp trip.
