Not true. This was the most successful media campaign so far. The flower story was in the top 5 most viewed articles today on Washington Post, and is still number 4 in the most emailed. That counts a lot. A record number of media outlets and blogs have picked it up. Even USCIS posted a statement on its home page in response.. Of course there are going to be other stories to compete in the media... it is a big and eventful world after all..

We have received news from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) that they have reliable information that the July Visa Bulletin will be revised on Monday, July 2nd, or Tuesday, July 3rd. This Visa Bulletin is expected to retrogress many of the categories that were announced as being "Current" for July. It is expected that at least some of the categories will become completely "unavailable." The reason for this is that the USCIS apparently engaged in extraordinary efforts to approve cases in June, once there was some forward movement of the Visa Bulletin. They did this to try to avoid the tide of cases expected in July. Each green card approval uses one visa number. If the numbers are all used for the year, then the DOS will issue a revised Visa Bulletin reflecting "unavailable" in the particular category or categories.

According to I-9 form, employers can't discriminate based on EAD. There are some exception where they require security clearance for the jobs.
You might want to remind CapitalOne of this anti-discrimination notice on I-9 or bring it to the notice of USCIS.

Well - I am not assuming that the Goldman manager "wants" to screw me/you/anybody.
I am assuming that he is there to do his job at the least cost possible. By introducing costly disruptions - we tilt the balance in favor of porting the entire division out (thereby indirectly screwing ourselves. Note: the Goldman manager is not screwing us - we are indirectly screwing ourselves by bidding up - aka UAW of GM). Since the threshold for outsourcing is quite a bit lower in a recession - I am suggesting that we don't pick this fight right now and wait for a little while.

I'm not getting this. If DOS/USCIS wants to retrogress the current dates then why they will wait for july2nd or 3rd. As they know people will file their applications by 29th june or they will try to deliver their applications by 2nd of july. So,if this rumour is really true then they would have posted revised bulletin in this week only , latest by today only, so that people will stop filling applications. So guys relax and keep doing whatever you were doing and file your applications by 2nd july.

Dr. Emilio Gonzalez responded to such flower campaign in the USCIS site. The flower campaign appears to be a gesture from the community of foreign professionals to thaw out the tension created by the fiasco and at the same time calling the agency leaders' swift attention to the problem and sufferings of the foreign professionals and their family members. Btw, who told you that guys like punjabi and others overbid or bought a house that they cannot afford? They could and still can afford these houses i.e. the monthly mortgage payments; the only thing they cannot do in the current market is to sell it (even at the price at which they bough i.e. break even) and that is why they are stuck with it if/when they decide to move to another city/job - so no point blaming these guys. If you want to blame somebody, blame the banks who appraised the same house at 500k 2 years back which they are appraising at 400k today, there in lies the problem.
People like you and boreal are doing much better because you decided that a 2 bed room house for rent is what you can afford because the prices shot up by guys like punjabi who wanted to make money and overbid on an house they cannot afford. Otherwise guys like you and many others would have bought house at a resonable price.

I raised an SR on 8/25/2009. I got a response that my "case was being actively processed, allow 60 days for a decision to be made". I kept calling uscis, every CSR told me the same thing "wait until Oct 25, and then raise another SR". I got the CPO email on 10/22.
As I mentioed in the previous posts, though I tried Senator, Ombudsman, calls thru my lawyer, I beleive that SR is the one that makes the IOs take a case out of a whole bunch and keeps it in the queue for approval.
