I called Vonage Customer service , If you signup Vonage World there is no 5k Min. limit. Its unlimited. Guys please don't post the wrong info.

Pal351 - It's not wrong, what I said based on my chat and call with customer support and they confirmed the smae that 5K limit per month for Vonage World Residential Plan .

Click below link and look for 5.4 for the same

    http://www.vonage.com/tos/?refer_id=WEBSR0706010001W1

for your information I am pasting the same from Vonage website

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Inconsistent with Normal Use.
If you use the service or the device in a way that is inconsistent with the normal use for your service or plan, you will be required, at Vonage's sole discretion, to pay the rates for the service or plan that would apply to the way you used the service or device, or terminate the plan. For example, if you subscribe to one of our residential service plans, and you are notified that your usage is inconsistent with normal residential use, you may thereafter be required to pay our higher rates for commercial service for all periods in which your use of our service or the device was inconsistent with normal residential use. More than 5,000 minutes per line per month for unlimited residential calling and more than 10,000 minutes per line per month for unlimited small business calling will not be considered normal use. The creation or use of related multiple accounts or excessive residential lines to circumvent these levels shall also be considered inconsistent with normal use. Usage over these levels or other inconsistent use will result, in Vonage's sole discretion, in immediate mandatory transfer to another appropriate plan, suspension or termination of service. You acknowledge that if your service is terminated under this provision, you are subject to all applicable termination charges. For a non-exhaustive list of examples of uses of our service inconsistent with normal residential use, click here.

Commercial, not-for profit, governmental use or other similar useThe use of the service at a multi-residential address for more than one single residence; orThe use of the service by others who do not reside in your personal residence primarily by reason of its unlimited feature

    Hope above will clarify......

I think Vonage will offer this free International calling for few months till it meets its target of new subscribers and then start charging per minute later on or in an indirect manner.
Once the new charges come into force the happy subscribers will not be able to cancel the service immediately due to cancellation charges and moreover since all other providers will be more of the same, Vonage wud then retain most of the customers

    what say thou?

If they change the "contract" you agreed to initially - then you have every right to get out of the contract without any termination fees. It may take some arguing with the CS - but I know some people who have done this successfully with telephone companies like Verizone/Sprint etc when they changed some inconsequencial T&C.

Of course you can do leagally, the GC is for the fututre job. We were able to do away with labor sub and we can do the same here.
Though, it is unfair one can not do legally, as long as USCIS recoconoze the the job offered at desi consulting companies are genuine and real "fulltime permanant job". They may be gaming the system..it is their model of bussiness to make money..and it is well supported by lawyers, lobbyists and ofcourse benefit seeking employees. You cant break this strong wall before the uscis. You should have witnessed how much resistance they created when DOL/USCIS abolished labor subsitution. In nut shell, if you close one loophole, they will find another. You are in wrong forum..

    Two Words:
Supply and Demand. (and its affect on pricing)
    Cyclic Nature of Real Estate

The same reason why mine and your 401K is 100K lower than what is was in Oct last year. The same reason why Intel will be selling fewer chips, why people will not drink as many grande latte at Starfucks as they did last year and ....

This is not the first time.

Yes, I do agree that we should have some sense of personal responsibility and that is why the middle way is to rent out the house (probably at a bit lower price than your monthly mortgage) and pay the difference from your pocket - if you have to absolutely move out from the house. But, can somebody answer my question above..........why is the same house (not even a brick changed) being appraised at around 100k lower than it was done 2 years back, by the same bank??

I cannot believe you are saying this. Are you actually saying that you will let stuff like this happen just because you think your company might get rid of you if you complain? If your wife or daughter has a boss who is flashing her everyday, will you actually tell your wife or daughter to 'suck it up' and put up with it just because you fear she may not get a reference??

Laws are designed to prevent this exact kind of thing. I personally would, to quote a Hindi movie dialog, take a sledge-hammer and change the geography of the abuser's face. On a more practical note, I would lawyer up, collect evidence, spin up a multi-million dollar lawsuit, and use settlement money to sip MaiTai on some beach in Lanai, while the harasser gets to suck on cock-meat sandwiches in the nearest penitentiary.

Sense of guilt... the guy who is breaking the law should have that. Not the victim who wants a reference. C'mon grow a penis!

Not sure if it is a desi mentality, but I have seen people from my own community who always advise to "suck it up", "take life as it comes" "Look at it from their POV" "It is not their fault it is your fault" "You always look at things in a negative way" "You are not capable of handling the situation" "If you are very good at work such things won't happen to you" "No one talks about these things except you" .......... and it goes on. When something really wrong happens to you - instead of standingby you, people rather say "See did I not warn you???"

This is how things are - very few people are bold and stand up and thats why you always see the victim getting politicized by the society.

    A quote from Albert Einstein
"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing."

If her lawyer is quick to respond then you can keep everything ready including medicals and anytime date is retrogressed should apply immediately or the second option is apply for EAD and AP and I-485 case and go tense free and use EAD if you want to change jobs and don't worry about EB2 and EB3.
If the removal of AC21 succeeds in CIR, then forget about switching jobs.

somebody with skills in finding out stuff should research on how much money per year is contributed by the working h1b employees and given the numbers that are sent back how much is actually "stolen" from them. I once again say "stolen" from them. If they are sent back they should atleast be entitled to all the money that was "ilegally" taken from them.

this total amount should be published in some widely read news source as " money stolen for benefit of citizens from hard working legal aliens". or as "Skilled legal aliens returning home leave back their earnings for the hungry and poor in US" or something of that sort!!

    Hello Pappu,

I feel we should have some banners up in different Indian stores, specially targeting some selfish EAD holders, who already feel they got their green cards irrespective of the current visa bulletin

    1. Setting up banners will not only attract new members, but will make these EAD holders think from a rational perspective.

2.Also IV administration should send out a personal email to all it members, informing them about the importance of coming together, this way the EAD members who have stopped coming to IV will get the message.

    3. We should contact the Indian newspaper editors, to print about our rally on March1st 2009, I believe more awareness we spread a better result we get.

    Thank you
Some ideas are good. In order to implement them, we need support from members. Pls volunteer and take up the ideas to lead them. For example I have mentioned about poster and banner campaign. If each one of us, prints them and post them in various places, we can get good publicity.

We have to make do with such low cost volunteer work. Someone pointed out that we should contact newspapers and get articles published. Wish it was so easy. We have written tons of mails but that alone does not work. You need to issue press releases and publish them online. Publishing them each online costs a couple hundred dollars by publishing services who distribute, and there is no guarantee it will be picked up. Thus you need a focussed campaign for it. There are services where you can contact reporters and media on a specific topic and send them email, press release directly. If they are already writing article you can know the deadline. If you have an idea, you can pitch a story idea to the reporter directly. A good service I know costs 5K for non profits for one year. If you need access to International reporters database add 2k to it. All this is possible only if we have these kinds of resources. When we can hardly get contributions of 5k in 4 months after collecting $5 each, it is tough to plan a big media campaign. The reason why other big organizations and big anti immigrant orgs can get so much publicity is that they probably can spend their huge resources on such services. They can also afford a full time staff. We do not have all that and run IV along with our full time day time jobs. So the first thing we need to do before we run any campaign is to get more members and more contributions and monthly signups. Without that ideas may only remain on the forums.

    Anil,

I got an email from TSC mentioning that my file had been requested for review and to allow 60 days.

Also, I got a letter from USCIS (TSC) in response to the SR that my file was being actively worked on.

Is that the same as an officer reviewing the case? or that comes next after file has been requested.

Did you receive any email response from the Service center processing your case, after you raised an SR ?

If in that response..they mentioned that an officer is reviewing your case..then you should be safe..

I talked to my immigration about this today. My wife is on h4 and her h1-b is not selected in this year lottery process. I wanted her to go a school which issues CPT in less than one year so that she can start work. But my lawyer strongly recommended not to change her status from H4 to F1. My PD is 24 March 2005 EB2. Lawyer told me that it might cause a problem for my wife to get the GC on her I-485 application. Lawyer said some of her clients got through without a problem and some of her clients have problem regarding status change from h4 to f1. Fianlly i decided not to take that risk. I'm still waiting to file I-485.

I never said raising this issue is illegal. BTW I was not replying to "l1fraud". My comment was directed at "dilipcr" who is of the opinion that Grassley's bill is good and IV core and the forum should support it so that he can have a secure job.

BTW is l1fraud or others raising this issue out of love for law ? no way. That was my point.

The L1 visas done by the outsourcing companies are the main reason for the employment problem. These companies like TCS, Wipro etc.. bring people in L1A, L1B blamket visas to do the common development/Business Analysis/Project Management job in the client site.

There is no quota for L1 Visas. They can bring any # of people they want. Per law the L1A s should be of senior managerial position with at least 4 subordinates working under them in US and L1B should be of specific skill very important for the project and not available in US. But the most of the L1As from these companies are just programmers/BAsor small PMs. They are directly controlled by their client manager.

The main intent of these our sourcing companies is to send the employees on L1 and the employees are constantly told to somehow transfer the project to offshore.

The L1 frauds should defenitely be reported. I totally support this initiative to report the L1 frauds committed by these outrsourcing companies.

    Sledge_Hammer:
I agree with you the whole thing was set for a collapse and personal responsibility and other ethos have disappeared long time ago. In my opinion the fundamental problem is money created from debt. The backbone of entire modern economic system is based on creating money from debt. Check out this and you will know how leveraged the entire system is (not just real estate).
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9050474362583451279

Unfortunately we are all caught in it with only solution to fix is time travel and kill the beast in infancy. There is vested interest by the Govt and Banks to lend because that's the only way money is created. That explains constant rate cut cycle and stimulating artificial growth. The entire monetary system is hijacked by banks. The debt to ordinary people drives the economy and people pay that debt and interest a good part of their life. Thus collapse of big banks could lead to eventual meltdown of the system, and no wonder govt keeps bailing them out.
In the end personal level frugal living and debt free people are constantly punished by taxing interest like ordinary income and no tax breaks. On the other hand big over leveraged spenders are rewarded with big tax breaks. Why ? Because it allows the well-oiled machinery to work.

In last 10-12 months, this overworked (overstretched) machinery broke down because the debt (and interest) is no longer paid back. Banking system of the entire countries start to fail (Iceland, Latvia, Hungry...). What happens next is anybody's guess, but we will be collateral damage, mine and your savings will be eroded by diminished buying power due to currency printed to bail out the fundamentally flawed system.
The sharp decline in moral and ethics is a direct result of entitlement mentality and welfare society. People feel that they deserve everything without having to pay it back and everyone who is better off must be evil. They forget that simple hardworking people can be rich by simply living debt free and with in the means.
Finally the money from debt driven system might survive but not without huge decline in standard of living, a massive recession and permanent shift away from material possession as a central theme of life.

It would have been ideal if they mandated 1:5 ratio. Unfortunately, with lax lending standards and unregulated banking, people made almost zero down payment (instead of the normal 20%) and bought into loans they couldn't afford in the first place.

I would still blame the borrower 95% for all the mess.

Congrats SoP. I knew you would get it soon as mentioned in my previous post. All of your efforts got paid off. Yes, I might need your help in writing a touchy letter to Napolitino.
Could you post the main body of theletter that you sent to Napolitino.

    Folks,
Today at 2:03 PM EST I received the coveted CPO mail for my wife. I was approved on Sept 3rd and was the primary and I have not yet received the CPO as there is Biometrics issue, my wife had the same issue but the vagaries of USCIS which is worse than Indian monsoon...

I wish Caliguy, Fatjoe, Apb and many others who are at or older than my PD get their approval soon. If I can be of assistance in any way to you guys please let me know....My wife her case was separated from me and I was worried that it fell thru the cracks..but my persistence with all the channels especially congressional and POJ I guessed did it.

Not that you guys are leaving any stone unturned but just keep trying...

She was at initial review stage till Oct 2nd and not preadjudicated and separated from primary case and bingo on 5th she jumped to CPO...

    You really never know...

Take care and I'll still be visiting IV and commenting and helping out..

It is excellent idea to get citizenship before getting GC. Is it possible? Nothing wrong in trying. But main aim should be getting GC reform. Like this only everyone including IV started in 2005. In 2006 High skilled immigration groups including IV and Corporations lobbied for unlimited GC and unlimited H1b for masters in STEM from India and for all Master Degree from USA. After realizing the practical situation every year diluted the numbers and all of them lobbied for just recapture bill in 2008. Finally nothing was acheived in GC. You can try this idea also but better cautious that it should not impact GC reform.

    Ahuja,

Why do you even need a GC, my friend. Stick with H1B visa. the only difference between GC and H1 is independence of employer and why do you even bother about it. You can always get a job where you want, buy a house now, sell it tomorrow, then after 6 years, go out for a year, come back on new H1.
As I said, people here are highly motivated and do want to follow the rules and achieve bigger things in lives, creating value in the process. But not many are willing to wait for 5 more precious years, after your greencard takes 10 years. Or 15 years on GC and 5 years for Citizenship. Once you work very hard, then you tend to ask for the right fruit, not just take anything. And whatever the Citizenship requirements are.. they will be met while waiting for theis damn GC..
I am just hitting at the attitude.. not person.. sorry...
Assume your school makes your 4 year course extended to 6 years and in the process makes you do a lot more..What do you ask at the end of it. 4 year degree or a 4+2 year degree.. .something similar..

Remember the lambi race ka goda.. He didnt pick the coin tossed at him.. anyone.. which movie.. ???
